UKAgeNet at BSG 2024!

UKAgeNet will be at the BSG 53rd Annual Conference 2024, hosted by Newcastle University, 3-5th July 2024, hosting a symposium on Bridging Biomedical and Social Sciences in Ageing Research. One of the priorities we have agreed for UKAgeNet is to foster an environment of, and champion the need for, interdisciplinary research. To work towards this goal, one of the most important questions for us is how can we collaborate across the Biomedical and the Social Science disciplines most effectively?

This symposium is in collaboration with the MRC/BBSRC networks and is intended to explore this in detail, by means of an open discussion around three specific questions:

  1. What are the barriers to collaboration between biological and social sciences?
  2. What has worked so far regarding such collaborations?
  3. What further steps are needed, by whom, and how can UKAgeNet facilitate progress?

Speakers are Professor Alan Walker, University of Sheffield, Professor Lynne Cox, University of Oxford, and Professor Catherine Hennessy, University of Stirling, with discussants Professor Ilaria Bellantuono, University of Sheffield, Professor Chris Phillipson, University of Manchester, Professor Carol Holland, University of Lancaster.

If you are a UKAgeNet member planning to attend and would like to apply for help with travel and accommodation, we have a small amount of funding to cover the costs (first come, first served). Please contact us for more information on ukagenet@sheffield.ac.uk.
